Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center holding school supply drive for abuse victims

The Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center's annual Backpack Drive continues through Aug. 8 for kids in Shelby and San Augustine County. According to the advocacy center's Denise Merriman, your generous support allows them to provide children that have been victims of abuse with the essential school supplies. She says it just one less thing the victim and their family have to be concerned with.

She says this marks the second year for the backpack drive, and the advocacy center is accepting either supplies, monetary or gift cards for kids from kindergarten through teen years.

Ms. Merriman says you can drop donations by The Children's Advocacy Center at 220 Field Street in Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday thru Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday. Also, in San Augustine at Shelby Savings Bank during regular business hours. She adds they've already exceeded last year's collection, and are excited to assist more children with your help. For any questions, call 936-590-9864.
