The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks are picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the Southland Conference in two preseason media polls that were released Tuesday at the league’s media football kickoff meetings in Lake Charles. SFA placed in a tie for sixth in a poll of league coaches and sixth in another poll of the conference’s sports information directors. SFA went 3-9 last season, and added new head coach Clint Conque during the off-season. Defending league champion Southeastern Louisiana was predicted to place first and Mc-Neese State was picked second in each poll. They were followed by Sam Houston in each poll.
