Four Shelby County 4-H shooters took part in the 14th annual Comal County Shotgun Invitational, also known as the state warm-up tournament recently, with over 350 kids participating. Jacob Locke, Konner Windham, Logan Holloway, Lance Holloway and Seth Shamblin were those shooting. In the junior division category, placing was: Skeet- Seth Shamblin 2nd; Trap- Lance Holloway 1st; Sporting Clays- Lance Holloway 1st; Whizbang- Lance Holloway 5th. In the intermediates division category, placing was: Skeet- Logan Holloway 5th; and in the Senior 1 division category, placing was: Whizbang- Konner Windham 6th. The state tournament is taking place this week in San Antonio.

The start of high school football practice is less than three-weeks away, and the Center Roughrider Athletic Department will be issuing equipment the week of July 28th-July 31st. The first day of practice is Aug. 4 at 9 a.m. in Center.

There will be a meeting of the Shelby County Youth Football League at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 24 at Center's Pizzeria. A representative from each town will need to be in attendance.
