The Deep East Texas Council of Governments has been given thumbs up as the board received the agency’s Fiscal Year 2013 audit at their meeting last week in Nacogdoches.

The accounting firm Alexander, Lankford and Hiers gave DETCOG the highest “opinion” possible on its audit.

Executive Director Walter Diggles advised the board over 300 applications for housing assistance has been made to the Hurricane Ike Disaster Recovery Housing Program. Diggles said the program is expecting to serve around 150. He said 27 houses would be distributed through nine of DETCOG’s 12 counties.

The next board meeting is scheduled for July 24 in Hemphill.
