Newton County officials say one of two suspects involved in last Wednesday afternoon’s robbery of the Sabine Sate Bank in Burkeville has turned himself in, while another remains at-large.

Authorities say 20-year old Michael Byerly surrendered, while 21-year old Xavier Clark is still being sought.

Trudy Woods, the bank’s branch manager was in the process of re-entering the bank to turn off a light that had been left on, when she was stabbed in the incident, receiving a punctured lung, and is reported to be stable in a Houston hospital.
