A DeSoto Parish man had died after falling from a tree that was being cut in Sabine Parish.

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office is saying 56-year old Ronnie Meshell of Mansfield died Sunday at University Health in Shreveport from injuries sustained in the fall last Friday afternoon on Hwy. 171 in Converse.

The report is saying the harness that was securing Meshell to the tree failed, possibly due to age or damage from the chainsaw being used to cut the tree. Meshell reportedly fell from the tree and landed on the ground causing substantial injury.

No foul play is suspected in the failure of the equipment.
