Shelby County Commissioners' Court to be asked to help fund recycling program

Shelby County Commissioners' Court has a special meeting at 9:30 this morning, and among the agenda items for discussion and possible action will be joining with the City of Center to bring back a recycling program to the county.

County Judge’s Administrative Assistant Deanne Sample, tells us since the City of Center suspended the recycling program due to expense a few years ago, the city is asking the county for assistance in paying for the program.

To hopefully provide further assistance, Commissioners will also approve a resolution authorizing the filing of a grant application with DETCOG for a Regional Solid Waste Grants Program. Ms. Sample says this includes litter and illegal dumping cleanup/community clean-up events, among other categories.

The court may possibly take action on renewal of an Annual Peopleware Agreement between Shelby County Tax Office and Computer Information Concepts beginning Aug. 1.

Following the special meeting this morning, the commissioners' court will have a special meeting at 10:30 to hear a presentation from Ralph Wallace with the Texas County & District Retirement System to discuss county employee retirement options.

The Shelby County Commissioners’ Court will have a special meeting at 9:30 Tuesday morning to accept or reject bids for road oil.
