Chireno man arrested for taking over $600,000 from own company

A Chireno man has been arrested for stealing over $600-thousand from his former business partners.

The Nacogdoches Sheriff’s Department is saying Roy Love, Jr., a former owner of Nacogdoches Mill Works was arrested, and released earlier this week after posting a $100-thousand bond.

The theft goes back some two years when another owner discovered several checks were made to companies that had not been hired by their company.

The owners hired an attorney and accountant, which uncovered checks Love had written to himself without documentation. Love also used the company account to pay for the electric bill at his personal chicken farm.

An affidavit said that two of the owners felt the business was struggling at times, and they put their own money in the company.

The theft was brought to light in 2012 when the owners learned they were being sued by the appraisal district for not paying property taxes.

A warrant was issued for Love’s arrest on May 28. He was booted out of ownership in late 2012.
