Tuesday early morning's storms have been blamed on a fire that destroyed a home in the Aiken Community.

A two-story residence belonging to Jerry and Barbara Scates on County Road 1180 was reportedly struck by lightning.

West Shelby County fireman responded around 3:30 to find the home fully involved.

The Scates had been in the process of moving from the home, and still had personal belongings among the items lost to flames.
