Deedra Grubbs found guilty of Capital Murder, other counts, sentenced to life

A Shelby County Jury found Deedra Grubbs guilty on all counts related to being an accomplice to the April 2012 shootings at the Joaquin Country Inn.

Jurors deliberated around 90 minutes Wednesday afternoon before finding Grubbs guilty of capital murder and two counts of aggravated assault. She was sentenced by District Judge Charles Mitchell, who gave her a life sentence without the possibility of parole. In addition, she was sentenced to 20 years in prison for each of the aggravated assault charges.

Deedra Grubbs’ husband, Bobbie, was found guilty of the same crimes last month. They are convicted in the shooting death of motel housekeeper Martha Chan, and motel employees Quinton “Sam” Watts and Marilyn Ratemar.
