Center PD makes arrest in burglary cases

Center Police Department is reporting that detectives have made an arrest of a Center man on a number of burglaries that occurred last month.

Detective Stephen Stroud says 31-year old Larry Thomas was taken into custody at a local residence after trying to evade officers. He was charged with resisting arrest and forgery.

The Center PD’s Criminal Investigation Department collected fingerprints and other evidence that lead them to Thomas. He confessed to six local burglaries, including Tri-County, Blast to the Past Auto Body Repair, at a Tyson Food Building and several residential burglaries along with forgery of a stolen check taken from a burglary.

Thomas is currently on probation for burglary of a habitation in Shelby County and is a known flight risk.

Det. Stroud said detectives are searching for stolen items that were traded for narcotics, crack cocaine and PCP.

The Center PD Criminal Investigation Division would like to let the citizens of Center know that we are working well with the Shelby County District Attorney to keep these repeat offenders off the street.
