U.S. Hwy. 59 travelers strike feral hogs in roadway, no injuries to vehicle occupants

As you know, you can never tell what may be in the roadways in these parts at any given time. So was the case Monday morning when a traveler on U.S. Hwy. 59 between Timpson and Garrison, at the county line, came upon a large number of feral hogs in the roadway near the Attoyac River Bridge.

Texas DPS Trooper John Hallenbeck said a Liberty County couple traveling northbound just before 5:45 yesterday morning came upon the wild swine and was unable to avoid striking them.

In the process, the vehicle left the roadway and rolled onto its side. There were no injuries to the two occupants of the early model Jeep Cherokee. However, a number of feral hogs weren’t as fortunate.

The Timpson Volunteer Fire Department and ambulance service and police department assisted with traffic and road clean up.
