Mike Price, a captain with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at his residence at the age of 46. He was born February 6, 1980, in Baytown, Texas.
Michael's life was full of the little moments. His world became all about the grandbabies and the joy they gave him. Singing the Night Night Song at bedtime, even over FaceTime in the middle of a shift or mowing the lawn with someone on his lap.
Sharing his own childhood hunting stories with his son, Jake, while they hunted together. Teasing back and forth with his daughter, Lexy, who never let an "ok, Lex-Luther" go by without an "ok, Daddy RayRay" right back. Riding his bike every chance he got, including one last ride with his daughter, Kyla, just days before he passed. Fending off his wife's rooster, William, with the horses' stall shovel every time he helped her in the yard. Sneaking to clean up his own messes, while watching his wife from the corner of his eye, smirking, and waiting for her to say, “Yes, I see you,” before he'd start giggling. He encouraged those he mentored to bring themselves and their children closer to God.
Before he wore a badge, Michael spent 16 years in the United States Air Force as a propulsion mechanic. Service never stopped being who he was. His devotion to law enforcement was born from a need to help others: to be the one people could rely on, the one they could look up to, the one who stood in the face of adversity knowing what he did kept others safe. He rose from deputy to Captain with the San Augustine County Sheriff's Office. Along the way he worked alongside his K-9 partner, Army, the two of them sharing the same attitude and personality.
He often expressed that the Sheriff's Office wasn't just where he worked. It was his family, one that surrounded them and their children with love and support. He frequently told his wife, “The Sheriff’s Office is our family. They will always be here for us if we need them.” He was all of that, but most importantly he was Husband, Dad, and Pawpaw.
His survivors include his wife, Jessica Bryan Price; parents, Nancy Louise Price-Lehman and Michael Raymond Price Sr.; children and spouses, Jacob and Claudia Price, Lexy and Cade Ryan, and Kyla and Chavis Holman; grandchildren, Wyatt, Paisley, Kaleigh, Eleanor, and Elijah; sisters and husbands, Bethany and John Asher and Melinda and Tyler Willis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
