It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy Lout, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and
dedicated public servant, Commissioner of Precinct 2. Jimmy left us peacefully at the age of 74 on November 24,
2024. He was born October 24, 1950, in Shelby County, Texas, to J.P. Lout and Bertha Mae Goodwyn. He
resided his entire life in Shelbyville, raised in a logging family, and worked in the woods most of his life. After an
inconvenient accident with a skidder door, he decided to try politics and became a county commissioner of Shelby
County Precinct 2, in 2002, where his commitment to public service and passion for improving the lives of others
made a lasting impact. His leadership and vision were instrumental in many local initiatives, and he earned the
respect and admiration of those he worked alongside.
Jimmy was a true outdoorsman, finding joy in fishing and spending time in nature. He cherished the moments
spent by the water or in the woods; casting his line, hog hunting, or deer hunting and sharing stories with family
and friends. An avid fisherman and hunter, he instilled a love for the outdoors in his children and grandchildren,
creating lasting memories on countless hunting and fishing trips. Between being outdoors and being a
commissioner, his most favorite thing to do was to support his grandchildren, in their many adventures. He could
always be seen at the school event that one of his grandchildren were in, cheering them on through every aspect
of their lives; he was their biggest fan.
Jimmy’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his
coffee drinking friends at Hardy’s.
Presiding over arrangements will be Bro. Ben Isgitt and Jim Moss. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday,
November 27, 2024, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at noon. Interment will be at Rather
Cemetery in Shelbyville, Texas, where friends and family are invited to celebrate his life and share memories.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Paula Lout; son, Joshua and wife Bridgett Lout;
daughter, Stacy and husband Kenny Lambright; grandchildren, Jacob and wife Tori, Trace and wife Chloe, Trevor
and wife Carmen, Brianna and fiancé Alex, Maddie and Cali Lout, River and Trey “Bubba” Wilkinson, and Colston
Lambright; 7 great grandchildren and one on the way; God sent brother, Jim Hoehiemer; special cousin, Pat and
husband Jimmy Jernigan; numerous family members, friends, and colleagues he has met over the years.
Preceded in death by his father and mother, J.P. and Bertha Lout; brother, Jack Lout; sister-in-law, Martha Nell
Lout; and daughters, Brandy and Angel Lout.
