Robert A. Nichols, 82, of Center, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024, in Center.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Bro. Gordon Vaughn and Bro. Ruston Bush will officiate. Interment will follow at East Hamilton Cemetery in Shelby County.
Born December 31, 1941, in Shelby County, Robert is the son of Alton Nichols and Westerfield Wright Nichols. A farmer and rancher, he was no stranger to hard work. Robert daily cared for his farm animals and shared his love of ranching with his sons. Robert made it a point to check on his family daily. His hobbies included fishing and riding horses. He attended Hillcrest Baptist Church in Center.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Nichols of Center; children, Robert Nichols and Nanette Anderson of Center, Sam Nichols and wife Becky of Center, Chris Nichols and wife Angel of Center, and Sherrie Duval and husband Jim of Iowa.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Britney Chapman and husband Colter, Chris Nichols Jr. and wife Elizabeth, Eddie Nichols, Samuel Nichols and wife Valerie, Michael Nichols and wife Alice, Judd Nichols, Rachael Williams, Amber Hynum and husband Cory, Jessica Hignight, Casey Rawlinson and wife Katie, Josh, Annabelle, Enoch, Eli, Sasha, Patience, Abe, Judah, Daniel, and Kaleb.
He is survived by his great grandchildren, Paris Rendon, Payton Rendon, Cadence Chapman, Annabelle, Christi, Chase, Sonny, Samuel Ray, Michael, Ansley, Waylon, Seth, Addilynn, Noah, Jonah, Casey, Serenity, Jace, Jensen, Brilynn, Bryson, Holder, Hailynn, Corlee, Noah, new baby due 2025, Rylee, and Isabella.
He is survived by his brother, W.A. Nichols of Center; and sisters, Josephine Nichols of Center, and Joy Nichols Bradshaw of Nacogdoches.
Preceded in death by parents, Alton Nichols and Westerfield Wright Nichols; and brothers, Herbert Nichols and J.C. Nichols.
Pallbearers will be Robert Nichols, Samuel Nichols, Christopher Nichols, Michael Nichols, Tony Gibbs, and Jimmy Metcalf.
