Hicks Mortuary is announcing funeral service for Mrs. Mary Ella Robinson (91) of Houston,
Texas. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at East Liberty Baptist Church,
Center, Texas at 11:00 AM (East Liberty Community). Mary Ella Robinson was born in
Center, Texas on February 28, 1933, to the late Fred McClelland and Salatha Ratcliff
McClelland. She departed this life on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Mary was also
known as Mutt, she grew up in East Liberty and graduated from East Liberty High
School. She graduated as valedictorian. She went on to attend Arma Houston
Business College and graduated with honors. Mary became the first African American
secretary to work for County Agent of Brazia County. Rev. Steven Standley will be the
eulogist.
Mrs. Mary Ella Robinson is survived by:
Daughters: Deborah Hicks, Sheila Jackson (Rev. Lamar), & Lisa Robinson
Brother: Willie Fred (Marie) McClelland
Sister: Johnnie May White
Grandchildren: Cochancie (Valerie), Chelsea, Julian (Diamond), Kristopher, Cameron, Ashley,
Ambra, and Demarco.
Visitations: A public viewing will be held on August 30, 2024, from 6-7:30 PM at East Liberty Baptist
Church, County Rd. 2569 Center, Texas
