Hicks Mortuary is announcing graveside service for Mrs. Margie Garrett (79) of Center will be Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Westview Cemetery in Center, Texas. Mrs. Garrett died at a local hospital in Longview, Texas on Saturday, September 4, 2021.  She was born on September 19, 1941, to the late Robert McCowan and the late Rosie Lee James.  Brother Freddie D. Wilson will be officiating.

 Margie was known as a “second mom” to many throughout the community. Her home-cooked meals, no-nonsense advice, gifts of charity and unconditional love for everyone she met will be forever cherished.

 She is survived by:

Sons: Fredrick (Cheryl) Jackson of Houston, Texas; Delbert (Rose) Jackson of Center, Texas; Eric Jackson of Center, Texas; and Scott (Shawn) Jackson of Dallas, Texas.

Daughters: Iretta Jackson of Center, Texas; Elaine (Al) Turner of San Antonio, Texas; Angela (Chris) Hebert of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; and Karla Jackson Edwards of Sunnyvale, Texas.

Stepchildren: Patrick Garrett of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Rod (Kesha) Garrett of Houston, Texas; Connie Richardson of Houston, Texas, and Anitra Garrett of San Augustine, Texas.

Brother: Lee McCowan of Houston, Texas. 

 She was also loved and admired by a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. 

       Viewing:   Friday, September 10, 2021, from the hours of 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM. 

             

Committal:  Westview Cemetery in Center, Texas
