Mrs Maude Yvonne Rowe

Funeral services for Mrs Maude Yvonne Rowe, 88, of the Old Center Community will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Bequette officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Center Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. 

Mrs Maude Yvonne Rowe was born October 17, 1932 in Zavalla,Texas. She passed this life September 3, 2021 in Carthage, Texas. She was one of five children born to the marriage of Drew Pierce and Callie Porter Conner. She was raised and schooled in Tenaha graduating with the Tiger class of 1951. Maude married her high school sweetheart Willis Rowe in 1952 and they enjoyed 55 years before he preceded her in death in 2008.

Maudie graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in Home Economics and Elementary Education. She loved sewing and teaching home economics at Nederland High School, then moved to teaching Elementary School, where she had a real passion for her 5th grade students for over 20 years. Her final years as an educator were spent in East Texas at Tenaha Elementary.

Maudie enjoyed reading her Bible and spending time with God, and taught Sunday School and Children's Choir. She loved watching girls of all ages dance, and live performing arts of all kinds. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as "Mimie" to all who knew her. Maude Yvonne was also preceded in death by her sister, Gladys Nell Mathews, as well as a brother, Kenneth Conner. Left to cherish her memory are, sister, Wandell Womack of Tenaha, Brother, Bert Conner and wife Linda of Sulpher, LA; daughter, Debbie Rowe; son, Russell Rowe and wife Selena; daughter, Kristy Essery and husband Mark all of Old Center; granddaughter Juliet Townzen and husband Michael of Carthage; grandson, Alex Rowe of Tuscaloosa, AL, Step granddaughter, Melissa Donohue and husband John of Winter Haven, FL, step granddaughter, Kimberly Smith and husband Ray of Gary, step grandson, Steven Essery of Carthage; great grandchildren, Greyson, Scarlet and Noah Townzen; and step grandchildren Amelia Dobbs, Alaina Ford, Alex Ford, John Donohue, Dalton Smith, Beka Smith, Dylan Essery, Hailey Essery and Violet Essery. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and many friends survive Mimie also. 

Serving as Pallbearers will be, Alex Rowe, Ray Smith, Greg Rowe, Jonathon Twomey, Don Hardwick, Baron Lopez and Ben Brinhall. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Rowe, Robert Rowe, Jerry Womack, Joseph Rowe, and Joe King.
