James Blue

 

 

James Blue, age 72, a longtime resident of San Augustine, Texas, passed from this life on Monday, July 13, 2020, in Tyler, Texas.  James was born to the late Bernice (Pickard) Blue and John Daniel Blue on July 14, 1947, in Beaumont, Texas. 

 

James was a retired master mechanic working in the construction industry.  He married the love of his life, Shirley Galloway Blue on March 22, 1968, having recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. James dearly loved his children, and grandchildren, and extended family.  James enjoyed helping others, and he was known to have a heart of gold.  Some of his hobbies included wielding, doing magic tricks, building projects, and rebuilding his 1969 Mustang Mach 1.  He enjoyed playing his bass guitar at church where he was a member of the Short Methodist Church in Shelby County.

 

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Blue of San Augustine; daughters, Sherry Harding and her husband, Jeff of Shelbyville; Linda Hodge and her husband, Johnnie of San Augustine, and a son, John C. Blue and his wife, Jeannie of Bronson; his mother-in-law, Gladys Galloway of San Augustine; his beloved grandchildren, Jessica Jackson, and her husband Kyle; Brittany Gilchrist, and her husband Justin; Haley Harbison, and her husband Lucas; Hunter Harding; Johnnie Hodge, Jr., and his wife Sarah; Shelby Garrett, and her husband Travis; Alex Blue, and his wife Morgan; Kyle Blue, and his wife Alexis; Brandon Retherford, and his wife Kassie; J.B. Mikeman; Heather Blue, Bradley Hammon, and 16 wonderful great-grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and John Daniel Blue, and a brother, Bill Blue.

Pallbearers will be Johnnie Hodge, Jr., Alex Blue, Hunter Harding, Kyle Blue, Brandon Retherford, J.B. Mikeman, and Josh Blue.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Kyle Jackson, Justin Gilchrist, Lucas Harbison, and Travis Garrett.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2020, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas, with Rev. Floyd Wright and his daughter, Rev. Sherry Harding officiating.  Interment will be in the Chumley Cemetery located off CR 127, in San Augustine County. 

 

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, July 16, 2020, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas.
