Vera Mae Nimitz

Vera Mae Nimitz, 77, of Hillister, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020, in Beaumont.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2020, at New Hope Cemetery in Center with Bro. Steve Noble officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to the service at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center, beginning at noon.

Mrs. Nimitz was born December 4, 1942, in Center, to Robert H. Adams Sr. and Ruby Christine Pate Belsha.  From stories told, she had it pretty rough, but she never let her circumstances hold her back.  She raised three children.  She had a strong conviction about things and once she had her mind made up there was no changing it.  Bless the ones on the other end.  She had many talents from cooking biscuits from scratch to quilting.  She enjoyed her garden and also enjoyed junkin’ before junkin’ was cool! One of her favorite things to do was going shopping and finding a great deal. Her sense of fashion was always ahead of her time.  She had a timeless style.  During her 77 adventurous years, she was a mother to three, an aunt to many, a grandmother to seven, and a great-grandmother to five.  She loved deeply and fully.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Nimitz of Shepherd, Texas; children, Angela Cuello and husband Pete of China, Texas, Jamie Powell and husband Jeffrey of China, Texas, and Thomas Bailey and wife Jamie of China, Texas; grandchildren, Kandi Stone and husband Kevin, Dee Dee Srader and husband Chad, Ashley Little and husband Billy, Pete Cuello, Zachary Powell and fiancé Taylor Trahan, Brittany Powell and fiancé, Christopher Gallagher, and Brooke Bailey; great grandchildren, Kayla and Katie Stone, Allie Srader, and Aden Cuello; sisters, Carlyon Moore, Diane Freeman, and Nelda McCawley; brother, David Belsha; sister-in-law, Rose Adams; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives; and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her great grandson, Sydney Srader; parents, Robert H. Adams Sr. and Ruby Christine Pate Belsha; sister, Mozelle Akins; and brothers, Robert Adams, Tommy Belsha, and Johnny Belsha.

Pallbearers will be Pete Cuello, Zachary Powell, Christopher Gallagher, Kevin Stone, Billy Little, and Chad Srader.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Harbor Hospice, 2450 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77713.
