Kathleen G. Matthews, 82, of Center, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019, in Center.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Chris Collins officiating.  Interment will follow at Neuville Cemetery in the Neuville Community of Shelby County.

Mrs. Matthews was born August 20, 1937, in Shelby County, to Luke Gregston and Beulah Truitt Gregston.  She retired from the public school system.  She loved jewelry, flowers, and antiques.  She was a member of Shelbyville Baptist Church in Shelbyville.  

She is survived by her children, Glenn Matthews and wife Becky of Center and Linda Phillips of Port Neches; grandchildren, Luke Matthews and wife Amy, Daniel Matthews and wife Talia, and Michelle Lapeyrolerie and husband Vince; great grandchildren, Eli Matthews, Michael Matthews, James Spencer, Tyler Barr, Carrie Matthews, Maggie Matthews, Sadie Matthews, Payton Lapeyrolerie, and Reid Lapeyrolerie; brother, Kenneth Gregston of Shelbyville; sisters, Jean Rash of Jasper and Vicky Warren and husband George of Center; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dan Matthews; parents, Luke Gregston and Beulah Truitt Gregston; brother, James Gregston; and sister, Ann Rash.

 

Pallbearers will be Luke Matthews, Daniel Matthews, George Warren, Vince Lapeyrolerie, Eli Matthews, James Spencer, Tyler Barr, and Chris Koltonski.
