Hicks Mortuary is announcing funeral service for Dr. Clyde Thomas (77) formally of Omaha Nebraska and now of Mesquite, Texas. Dr. Thomas passed away Saturday, October 19, 2019.   Dr. Thomas was born on June 9, 1942 in Haslam, Texas.    

 

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 1:00pm at Triumph the Church of God in Christ (908 Daniels Street Center, Texas 75935).  Elder Lon Boyce of Dallas, Texas will be officiating.  

 
Dr. Thomas attended schools at C.H. Daniels High School in Center, Texas; Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas; University of Nebraska at Omaha; and Nebraska at Lincoln.  Dr. Thomas was enlisted in the United States Army. Dr. Thomas church affiliation was Church of God in Christ.  

 

Dr. Thomas occupation includes teaching and mental health profession.  Dr. Thomas was active in many organizations:  Alpha Phi Alpha, Shriners, Mason, MAD, DADs, Softball Commissioner, Halfway House Counselor, YMCA Counselor and instructor of a mathematic department.

 
Dr. Thomas was proceeded in death by parents (John and Virginia Thomas) and (brother) Eric Thomas. 

Dr. Thomas is survived by:

1 Son:  Clyde Thomas II of Omaha, Nebraska 

1 Daughter:  India Thomas, Kelly of Tacoma, Washington 

2 Grandchildren:  Tiara Kelly and Aujahnae Porter 

2 Brothers:  William Thomas, Sr. (Maria) of Tyler, Texas and David Thomas, Sr. (Andrea) of Dallas, Texas

6 Sisters:  Evelyn Cooper of Tyler, Texas; Geraldine Steel of Center, Texas; Deloris Stripling (Verlon) of San Augustine, Texas; Shirley Johnson of Carthage, Texas; Sarah Coats of Mesquite, Texas and Joyce Mitchell (Joe) of Garland, Texas

Visitation:  Friday, October 25, 2019 at Hicks Chapel viewing hours are 6:00pm -8:00pm

Committal:  Westview Cemetery in Center, Texas
