Richard "Rick" Barras

 

 

Richard “Rick” Barras, 66, of Tenaha, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Jackie Brown officiating.  Interment will follow at Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha.


Mr. Barras was born June 18, 1953, in San Antonio.  He worked as an offshore electrician for CNG Production.  Mr. Barras was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.  He was affiliated with Lighthouse Holiness Church in Tenaha.


He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Barras of Tenaha; children, Jerry Usey of South Louisiana, Richard Phillips of Tenaha, and Anittra Adkison and husband Clint of Garrison; grandchildren, Gavin Phillips and wife Cassie of Tenaha, Chloé Phillips and fiancé Devin Davis of Magnolia, Arkansas, Brent Adkison of Garrison, Destini Phillips of Center, Austin Adkison of Garrison, Raimi Phillips of Center, Philip Adkison of Garrison, and Jackson Phillips of Tenaha; great grandchildren, Calder Phillips, Cain Phillips, and Maddyn Marie Davis; sisters, Betty Cook of Alvin, Cathy Tomlinson of Napoleonville, Louisiana, and Donna Wall of Wisconsin; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.  


Preceded in death by his father, Leon Barras; his mother, Bertha Zeringue Olles; his stepfather, Joe Olles; and his brother, Dave Barras.


Pallbearers will be Bo Odom, Gavin Phillips, Greg Tomlinson, Brent Adkison, Philip Adkison, and Austin Adkison. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Solice, Richard Phillips, and Clint Adkison.
