Willie Jarrell

Willie Jarrell, 91, of Lufkin, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, in Lufkin.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2019, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  A private family interment will be held following the visitation at Strong Cemetery in Huxley.
Willie was born October 4, 1927, in Evans, Louisiana, to Henry Clark Jarrell and Maggie Inez Whitehead Jarrell.  He was a brother to seven other siblings.  Willie served in the United States Navy for thirty years and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer.  He served in World War II and Vietnam, and was also deployed in many other battles.  Willie loved to hunt, but is favorite place to go was to the lake to fish. Always surrounded by his family and friends, he put his family first and helped his family grow; a loving father, husband, and an extraordinary man who will be greatly missed.  
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Jarrell of Lufkin; children, Michael (Janna) Jarrell, Carolyn McLean Sheree (Robert) SoRelle, and Bobby (Julie) Jarrell; grandchildren, Brian Jarrell, Roxy (Caleb) Slayton, Susan (Chase) Dawson and Amanda (Jason) Mayer; great-grandchildren, Jacquelynn Jarrell, Sydnee Mayer, and Tyler Mayer; sister, Barbara Grubbs; brother, Delbert Jarrell; many numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Preceding him in death his parents and sisters, Penny Wilson, Lela Herrington, Loleta Williford, Drucilla Nichols, and Joyce Dewbre; son-in-law, Chuck McLean.
