Mr. Nathan Otis Watson, 69, of Broaddus, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019, at his residence.

Nathan was born August 18, 1949, in Lufkin, Texas, to Nathan Ernest Watson and Eva Liles Watson.

He drove an 18-wheeler for thirty-two years and was known by his CB handles “Fat Boy” and “Sarge.” In his career, he worked for McAdams Lumber Co., Don Ryan, Burrous Trucking, Fleetwood, and retired from Texas Electric Coop.  Nathan was never in the military but he was very thankful to anyone who served our country and he always said that military men and women deserve the most respect.

Nathan's prized possession—besides his wife, kids, and grandkids—was his retirement present, his Maroon Ford F-150.  He enjoyed retirement so much, he loved working on and fixing old lawn mowers.

Some of his favorite past times included riding around the subdivision on his mule visiting neighbors, helping anyone he could, listening to old southern gospel songs, and being with his family.

Nathan was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Broaddus, where he loved singing in the choir and visiting with church members.  Nathan loved the Lord and in his later days told his family, "I'm a winner either way if I go or if I stay,"

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Becky Watson of Broaddus; son, Joey Watson and wife Christina of Broaddus, Texas; daughter, Stephanie Kratz and husband Chris of Broaddus, Texas; sisters, Louise Charmichael and husband Vic of Kentucky and Bonnie Oliver of Bryan, Texas; and grandchildren, Lil Joey, Shelbi, Raylee, Rantzli, and Mazeli. Nathan also had many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews.  He left behind a lot of families that he loved so very much.

Nathan was preceded in death by his loving mother, Eva Liles Watson; father, Nathan E. Watson; a son, Thomas Lee Watson; one sister; three brothers; and his loving friend of 63 years, Joe Oates.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019, at Trinity Baptist Church, located on FM 83 in Broaddus, with Bro. Don Lofton officiating.
