Hicks Mortuary of Center, Texas and Johnson Funeral Home (5730 Calhoun Houston, Texas 77021) are announcing funeral service for Dr. Charles Edward Tatum Ph.D. of Houston   Dr. Tatum passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.  He was born on February 25, 1931.  Dr. Tatum has been known for his publications such as, Mount Zion: In the Shadow of a Might Rock; The Osby Family Genealogy; Midnight: Before the Dawn; Shelby County: In the East Texas Hills; and other noted publications. Dr. Tatum was a native of Center, Texas and a graduate of C.H. Daniels High School.  He received his B.A. and M. Ed. Degree for Prairie View A&M University; his M.A.T and M.S degrees for Indiana University; and his Ph.D. Michigan State University.    Funeral service will be Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Metropolitan Christiana Methodist Church (8955 South Fwy Houston, Texas 77051) at 12:00 noon.   Rev. George Cartwright will be officiation.

Brother:  Willard I. McClelland 
Sister-in-Law:  Myrtis M. McClelland
Nephew and Niece:  C. Anthony McClelland and Kristi R. McClelland
1st Cousins:  Oscar Bell, Larry Osby, Lenard Osby, and Arlinda Osby
Special Friends:  Eula White, Baby Lou Gardner, Norma Lister, and others 
Visitation:  Saturday, April 13 at Metropolitan Christian Methodist Church at 11:00am-12:00 noon. 


Committal:  Monday, April 15, 2019 at Houston National Cemetery, at 2:00pm
