Estella Montgomery Scott


















Funeral Services for Estella Montgomery Scott, age 99, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jeffrey Robinson officiating.  Burial will be in the Roberts Community Cemetery in San Augustine.


Estella Montgomery Scott was born to the late Frank and Virgie (Cartwright) Scott in San Augustine, Texas, on December 7, 1919.  She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Bethel CME Church (Maxey Town Community) in San Augustine, Texas, and was an active and faithful member until her health began to fail.  She was a member of the choir, served as Deaconess, Sunday school superintendent and several other areas within the church.

During the latter years, she enjoyed the living accommodations of the Colonial Pines Nursing Home in San Augustine, Texas and Laurenwood Nursing Home in Dallas, Texas where she received the best care.  The family would like to thank Dr. John Oglesbee, and his wife, Sharon for their excellent care of our mother.


Estella Scott was married to the late John Coleman Scott, Jr. and to this union three children was born.  She was preceded in death by three sisters, Fannie Hoyt, Thelma McCoy, Lillan (Macy) Cooper, three brothers, Elton Montgomery, Connell Montgomery, and Collis Montogomery.

She departed this life on January 24, 2019, at Laurenwood Nusing Home in Dalls, Texas. 

Estella Scott is survived by two sons, Larry Scott (Rosetta Vernestine) of Dallas, Texas, and  Jimmy Scott (Gloria Jean) of San Augustine, Texas; one daughter, Ellen Long (Dale) of Garland, Texas; two sisters, Margaret Fisher of El Paso, Texas and Madlyn Ellis of Dallas, Texas,; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
