Barbara Ann Lindley, 76, of Grand Cane, Louisiana, passed away on November 19, 2018 in Shreveport. She was born on July 29,1942 in Orange, Texas to Travis Monroe Sample and Avis Snider Sample. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Windham officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Mangum Funeral Home.

Barbara grew up in the New Harmony Community and graduated with the Shelbyville High School Class of 1960. She ran into a young gentleman in a diner in Center one day by the name of David K. Lindley. An immediate spark led to marriage in 1964 and the two remained faithfully by one another’s side until David’s passing in 2013. Barbara loved her country and was not ashamed of her patriotism. Both of her sons served their country honorably and one retired from the Air Force. She also had numerous nephews who served in other branches such as the Army and Navy. Barbara loved to do arts and crafts. During her stay at the nursing home, she would make crosses, hearts and angels that the staff and residents alike would thoroughly enjoy. Her real passion was crocheting. Barbara would create some of the most beautiful projects with her crochet needles in hand. Anyone who knew Barbara would describe her as a “big talker.” She would strike up a conversation with everyone who met her and could spend hours sharing stories and laughter. She was an active member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

Barbara is survived by her sons, James Lindley and wife, Sandra of Center, Clint Lindley and wife, Michelle of Grand Cane, Louisiana and Travis Lindley of Henderson, Nevada; sister, Vickie Sample Martin of Shelbyville; brother, David Sample and wife, Sandi of Center; sisters-in-law, Mildred Moretti of San Antonio and Dianna K. Foster of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jamie Lindley and wife, Amy, Robert Lindley and wife Jennifer, Christian Fayeth Lindley, David Allen and Duste Lindley; great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Robert V. “Beaux,” Jr., Sarah Lindley and Evelynn Lindley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David K. Lindley and her parents, Travis and Avis Sample.

Honorary pallbearers are John Austin Ford, Jamie Lindley, Robert Lindley, David Lindley and Beaux Lindley.
