"Gene" Thomas Arbuckle

Gene  Arbuckle of the Geneva Community transitioned from this life on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at his beloved East Texas home in care of his family.  Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018, in the McMahan Chapel in Sabine County, with Rev. Martin Doran officiaiting.  Burial will follow in the Sweet Cemetery in Sabine County.

Gene was born to Martha (Sweet) Arbuckle and Thomas Brady Arbuckle on February 6, 1958. Gene spent his formative years exploring the piney woods of East Texas until he moved with his family to Austin where he discovered the adventures that could be had on the lakes of Central Texas and the beaches of the Gulf Coast. As a Reagan Raider Gene met his greatest love and passion his wife of 32 years Linda Arbuckle.

Professionally, Gene went to Texas State Technical College to study construction and was a superintendent for the industry for 33 years. He was instrumental in the building of numerous facilities in Central and South Texas. His final construction project was his retirement home built in the heart of his treasured Geneva pine forest.

Gene will always be remembered for his great love of the outdoors and his willingness to share this passion with others.  He was an avid boater, fisherman, hunter, camper, woodsman, and Bigfoot seeker. He joyfully welcomed all who wanted to come with him on his adventures and took a few others along who were unaware of what a “short walk” or a “quick drive” with Gene could turn in to.

Gene is survived by his loving wife Linda Arbuckle, his son David Arbuckle and his fiancée Sarah Whatley, daughter Lindy Arbuckle, step-mother Clarlynn and all survivors of his legendary 4th of July festivities.

He was preceded in death by his parents Martha and Brady Arbuckle.

Although Gene has passed on he will never be forgotten…how could we forget? We all have countless “Gene Stories.”
