David was born to Thelma (Reagan) Schaeffer and Marcelle Schaeffer on July 6, 1952, in Corrigan, Texas.  He was employed as a carpenter for General Shelters, he loved building things with his hands out of wood, and building stuff for his daughters and grandchildren.  David was considered outgoing and very loveable.  He loved God and his family, and was a wonderful husband, Daddy, and "Poppy" always having a smile or a joke to lift your spirits, and he enjoyed playing his drums.

 

Those who are left to cherish his memory include, his beloved wife, Janice Schaeffer of San Augustine; beloved daughters, Tammy Fountain and her husband, Jessie of San Augustine; Ashley Burks and her husband, Robert of Nacogdoches and Lesley Knight and her husband, Joe of Lockhart; His loving parents, Marcel and Thelma Schaeffer of Groveton; His loving sisters, Wanda Leon; Laura Ridde and her husband, Morris; Patricia Smith and her husband, Archie and Darlene King and her husband, Tony; his loving brother, Mark Schaeffer and his wife, Cindi; his beloved 8 grandchildren, Travis; Jeremy;  Amber; Johnathon; Hunter; Courtney;  Chloe and Addison, along with his beloved 7 great-grandchildren. 

 

A private Memorial Service is being planned at a later date by the family.
