Laurie Lewis Rogers

 

 

Laurie Lewis Rogers, 61, of Center, passed away due to cancer Wednesday, November 8, 2017, in Tyler.
 
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2017, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Watson & Sons Chapel with J.C. Lewis officiating.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
 
Mrs. Laurie Lewis Rogers was born January 31, 1956, in Picayune, Mississippi, to David McDuffie and Maudie Mitchell McDuffie.  She was of the Missionary Baptist faith. Laurie had a Bachelors of Business Administration and loved working on her next entrepreneurial venture. When not consumed with the business at hand, Laurie loved cooking for her family and spending time with friends. She bravely battled Multi Myeloma for three long years undergoing numerous Chemo treatments and a bone marrow transplant that left her in a coma for 23 days. After waking up she began to immediately work at recovering her strength. Of the last three years of her life she spent 380 days in the hospital. She is truly the embodiment of “never quit”.

Sister: Dale Dickerson of Sparks, Louisiana
 
Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Parents: David McDuffie and Maudie Mitchell McDuffie
Brother: David Mitchell
 
Pallbearers will be Mark Tidwell, Levi Cohurst, Matt Wood, Russell Sowell, Justin Coburn and Leigh Martin.
