Jerry Floyd

Jerry Floyd, 65, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Nacogdoches.  Mr. Floyd was born on October 3, 1952, in Pineville, Louisiana, the son of C.E. “Swamp” Floyd and Jewell Bernice Hattaway Floyd. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Jerry grew up in Center, Texas where he attended and graduated from Center High School. Soon after graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he honorably served his country for 2 years.  Jerry returned home and after attending Stephen F. Austin State University for a period of time, he joined his parents in running the family business in Center, where he remained for almost 40 years.  Jerry loved his mom, dad, and siblings and was always around to help them.  He spent his time fishing, camping, and anything else he could find to occupy his time outdoors.  He was happiest when he was playing with his nieces and nephews.  Being Uncle Jerry was the highlight of his life, and could typically be found playing with them on the floor or in the yard camping in a make-shift tent.  The kids loved the time they spent with him.  Jerry made many friends through the years, and made sure to keep in touch with each of them, planning time to spend together as they reminisced and enjoyed the pleasures of life as often as possible.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sharron Floyd of Nacogdoches; sister, Sandra Cervi and husband, Allen of Houston; brothers, Kenneth Floyd and wife, Debbie of Nacogdoches, Randy Floyd of Ft. Worth, and Michael Floyd of Carthage.
