Chamber to salute county teachers May 14

The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce will be honoring the county's school teachers when they host the annual Teacher of the Year Reception at 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 14 at the Windham Civic Center. During the reception, Chamber Education chairperson Kelly Lucas will announce the Teacher of the Year for Elementary and Secondary schools. The chamber of commerce salutes the accomplishments of the talented teachers throughout the county's school districts, and this is a time when gratitude and appreciation is expressed.

 

The Teacher of the Year candidates from the Shelby County school campuses are: F.L. Moffett Primary School-Sherry Lawson; Center Elementary-Olinda Hale; Center Intermediate-Daniel Driver; Center Middle School-Sheilah Haddox; and Center High School-Chris Watlington. From Excelsior ISD-Jennifer Cecil. Joaquin Elemenatary School-Terri Smith; Joaquin Jr. High-Madison Carrington; and Joaquin High School-Marilyn Stewart. S.W. Carter Elementary-Phyllis Horton; Shelbyville Middle School-Stephany Carter; and Shelbyville High School-Cole Harrison. Timpson Elementary-April Ramsey; Timpson Middle School-Jilly Hailey; and Timpson High School-Maria Aparicio.
