There's a new district ranger for the Sabine and Angelina National Forest. Kimpton Cooper was recently named to the post. Ranger Cooper brings a wealth of forestry experience and knowledge to the job, according to Forest Supervisor Mark Van Every. Cooper grew up in Jasper and graduated Jasper High School. He's spent most of his Forest Service career in Oregon and Washington. Cooper said he was really excited about returning to East Texas and looking forward to learning about, and getting involved with local communities the National Forest serves here in Sabine and Angelina National Forest. The Sabine National Forest is in Shelby, San Augustine, Sabine, Jasper and Newton counties, with the Angelina National Forest in Angelina, Nacogdoches, San Augustine and Jasper counties.
