ACE EMS Renewal Approved with County

Shelby County Commissioners have approved the renewal of the Emergency Ambulance Service Agreement with ACE EMS at their meeting this morning.   "When we started last year, we had a hospital here," says spokesman Jesse Griffith.  "Since then we lost that , but we have been able to cover all the calls of Shelby County in a timely manner," he further added.  "We have a few glitches every now and then, but we have taken care of this county and we are home people and we wish to continue to do the same."

In other business, the county approved a $2,398,160 to Drury Construction for the Shelby County Road Improvement Project, which represents about $ 300,000 less than the amount budgeted.   County Judge Rick Campbell emphasized that this is federal government money set aside from Hurricane Ike.  He credited Texas Attorney General Greg Abott for putting pressure on the federal government to send some of those dollars to Texas.

The court once again approved action to re-advertise for bids on the Parker Building.  That effort failed once before, but Campbell says a couple of parties have expressed interest in the building since that time.  The minimum acceptable bid is $25,000.
