Press Release - Chicken Fajitas & Doo Dah Parade

The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce announces the 46 th Annual East Texas Poultry Festival, presented by Farmers State Bank, will kick-off Wednesday, September 28th with the Chicken Fajita Lunch and the Doo-Dah Parade.. These events help usher in the season prior to the Festival opening Thursday, October 6th. The Chicken Fajita Kick-Off Lunch, sponsored by East Texas Poultry Supply, starts at 11:00 a.m. at the Center Fire Department, according to Chairman, Bryan Wages. The lunch includes two chicken fajitas, chips, salsa and a drink for $7 per plate and delivery is available for 5 or more advance orders by calling 936-591-9334 or emailing sctoday@att.net by Friday, September 23 rd .. An order form for the Fajita Lunch, as well as other Poultry Festival Events, is available on the Poultry Festival Event page on the Chamber web site, www.shelbycountychamber.com. Center Tire Company is the Platinum Sponsor for the East Texas Poultry Festival's Doo-Dah Parade. Decorated floats, trailers, tractors, or business vehicles lend a great time and just about anything goes! Participants will line up at the Farmers State Bank Drive-Thru at 4:30. The parade will circle the historic downtown square led by the Shelby County Junior Chamber of Commerce at 5:00pm p.m. on Wednesday, September 28. Already underway are the Queen’s Court activities. The Coronation will be held on Saturday, October 1st at 7:00pm at Center High School. The Queen and her Court will cut the Boa at the Opening Ceremonies on October 6th at 10:00 at the Frances Oates Stage. The Queen shall reign over the Festival and represent Shelby County at numerous events and activities for the year.
