Heavy rain pours through East Texas

We have already seen several waves of rain bands move through East Texas yesterday and more heavy downpours are on the way. A slow moving storm system will bring the Piney Woods more pockets of rain throughout the rest of the day. We are still looking at an additional 2-4" of rain to fall from tonight through early Thursday morning; keep in mind that this is on top of the rainfall we have already received today. Due to the threat for more heavy downpours, a flash flood watch has been issued for all of our East Texas counties through early Thursday morning. While flooding may not be a widespread issue, we certainly cannot rule out some minor flooding on secondary roads and in the low lying areas which are prone to flooding when heavy rain events take place. In addition to the heavy rain threat, there will also be a slight risk for severe weather on Wednesday afternoon as a warm front moves up from the Texas coast.
