Numerous shootings spark street cleaning event

Since numerous shootings have flooded the news, the Shreveport Police are offering cash for firearms in an effort to get illegally held guns off the streets. The effort, called "Don't Shoot, I Want to Grow Up," offers a reward to people who anonymously inform police of suspects who are illegally carrying or possessing a firearm. Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers will pay $200 for an illegal handgun and $500 for any illegal rifle or shotgun seized. It is illegal for anyone without the proper permit to carry a concealed weapon, and it is also illegal for anyone who has been convicted of certain felony crimes to possess a firearm.
