On December 16, at about 5:00 p.m., Texas Department

of Public Safety (DPS) troopers responded to and investigated a one vehicle

fatality crash on FM 139, approximately 8 miles northwest of Shelbyville.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates a 2001 Ford truck was traveling East

on FM 139 when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

The driver of the truck has been identified as 57-year-old James Peterson from Ben

Wheeler, TX. Peterson was pronounced deceased at the scene by Shelby County

Justice of the Peace Marla Denby.
