TRINITY COUNTY – Texas Rangers with the Texas Department of Public Safety

(DPS) are investigating an officer-involved shooting.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Friday, September 30, at a

private residence in Groveton. The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office responded to

an assault in progress call at the residence.

Preliminary information indicates an assault was occurring at the residence when

deputies arrived.

 

Clayton Eugene Baker, 38, of Willis, Texas, was pronounced deceased. The

victim of the assault was transported by helicopter to a Bryan-College Station

hospital for treatment of injuries suffered during the assault.

This is an active investigation and information at this time is limited. Additional

information will be released when it becomes available.
