Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle regrets to inform the public of a serious logging
accident that injured a Saline, LA man today.  DeSoto Parish Sheriff's
Office received a call from a subject who informed us that a male subject,
identified as Dennis Croom, age: 58, was injured on a logging job in the
area of All Saints Road in Pelican, LA at about 10:15 a.m.  Mr. Croom
suffered major head trauma following being hit by a piece of logging
equipment.  Deputies responded to the location and Mr. Croom was transported
to DeSoto Regional Medical Center by EMS.  Investigators were dispatched to
the scene to interview witnesses and inquire about the accident.  The DeSoto
Parish Sheriff's Office was later notified that Mr. Croom passed away from
the injuries he sustained during the accident.  Investigators believe this
was a tragic accident but the investigation is ongoing.
