Stanley Jackson appointed to Pct. 1 seat on San Augustine County Commissioners' Court

The San Augustine County Commissioners' Court has a new member from Pct. 1 as County Judge Samye Johnson appointed Stanley Jackson to fill the position left vacant when long-time commissioner Tommy Hunter resigned for personal reasons early last week.

Judge Johnson appointed Jackson last Thursday and immediately administered the oath of office. She said the appointment will continue until the next general election takes place in November 2016. She added the person elected will then serve out the unexpired term of office.

Hunter had served as commissioner for some 20 years, having been re-elected last November.

Judge Johnson said several applications were received and said Commissioner Jackson was the one she felt would perform the very best job for Pct. 1 and for San Augustine County.

Commissioner Jackson has 18 years of road & bridge construction experience, in addition to 20 years as a heavy equipment operator, road and bridge construction project superintendent and general foreman.
