Hunger Awareness Week proclaimed in Shelby County

The Shelby County Commissioners' Court proclaimed this week, June 8-14 as Hunger Awareness Week. Commissioners encourage all county citizens to recognize that many people struggle to have enough food and that we as a county take a stand that no individual goes hungry. Shelby County Outreach Ministries strives to feed the hungry while assisting the needy, and Shelby County recognizes that there is a need to bring an awareness of hunger to our community. According to Shelby County Outreach Ministries Executive Director Sherry Harding there are senior citizen faced with hunger due to several factors such as limited mobility, access to regular meals, precription cost and living expenses.
