Panola County woman, former Center ISD teacher indicted for murder of husband

A Panola County woman and former Center ISD teacher has been indicted for the murder of her husband on April 28.

Court records show that 49-year old Sarah Venable allegedly shot her husband Jay Venable in the head at their home in the Murvaul Community on Panola County Road 121 following a verbal argument involving her losing her job.

Ms. Venable told investigator she left the living room, went into the bedroom where she retrieved a .380 semi-automatic pistol, walked into another bedroom and fired, hitting him in the back of the head. She was arrested for murder with a $500,000 surety bond set.

Ms. Venable previously taught at Center Middle School, submitting her resignation on February 24, with her last day at work March 2.

The Panola County Grand Jury also indicted Timothy James Daniels for the alleged murder of LaMarcus Scott in January.

Scott was found dead from strangulation inside a closet of his residence on CR 302 after family members were unable to contact him.

Video surveillance at a convenience store near Austin revealed Daniels stole Scott’s pickup and used the man’s credit card.

He was arrested a week later at a Longview apartment complex and charged with murder.
