Timpson Frontier Days celebration set for July 2-5; Pony Express rides to take place today, Tuesday

The Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce is making plans for its annual Frontier Day celebration next month.

 

President Paul Smith says they’re excited this could be the largest listing of planned events, in the history of Frontier Days.

 

Activities kick off with the Sonny Tippett Memorial Gospel Singing on Thursday, July 2 at First Baptist Church, Timpson, and ends with the Community Wide Church Service on Sunday evening, July 5.

 

Frontier Days will have carnival rides, midway, arts & crafts and food booths all three days. The laser light show returns and a street dance July 4 with Texas Country Music Superstar Charlie Robison.

 

Today & Tuesday, the Timpson Area Chamber will be conducting the traditional Pony Express invitation ride to neighboring towns.

 

Today’s schedule includes: 10:30 am Mount Enterprise at City Hall; 11:00 am Garrison in front of Commercial Bank; 11:45 am Joaquin at City Hall; and at 1:30 pm Center on the Court House lawn.

 

Tuesday's schedule includes 10:30 am in Tenaha at City Hall; 11:00 am Gary at City Hall; and at 11:30 am Carthage, Texas at the Country Music Hall of Fame.

 

Everyone is invited to join in at one location or all. Cowboy attire is not required, and according to organizers, if you are so inclined, feel free to bring a horse and be a part of the Timpson Pony Express.
