The Timpson mobile food pantry will transition to a local food pantry in July.

Timpson Mayor Debra Smith says the next East Texas Food Bank distribution will be Wednesday, June 17 at Woodland Christian Church in Timpson, the last at that location.

Mayor Smith says a meeting will be held at noon, Friday June 19 at First Baptist Church to hopefully garner support and volunteers for the food pantry program in Timpson.

The First Baptist Church in Timpson will be the new location for the monthly service beginning July.

Mayor Smith invites everyone interested in sponsoring, donating and/or volunteering with the Timpson Food for Thought "food pantry" to attend the meeting.

She notes the Timpson mobile food pantry has served on average 135 families a month over two years. Families come from Timpson, Garrison, Center, Gary, Tenaha and surrounding communities.

Mayor Smith said Timpson Food for Thought will continue to operate the Senior Box Program monthly.
