Ferne was born to Lorraine (Greenhaw) Gaines and Otis Gaines on January 31, 1935, in Warton County, Texas. For many years she dedicated her life as a certified nurse aid in caring for many of the local elderly people. She had also worked for the Baldree's Grocery Store in San Augustine as a cashier many years ago. She was married to the love of her life to Franklin D. Fussell for 49 years, until he predeceased her in death in 2000. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend. She faithful and loving member of the First United Pentecostal Church in San Augustine where often she could be found playing the piano.

 

Those who are left to cherish her memory include, her children, Cheri Fussell of San Augustine; David Fussell and his wife, Jane of Diboll; Debra Lewing and her husband, W.D. of College Station, and Edmon "Moot" Fussell and his wife, Brandie of San Augustine; 7 Grandchildren, John Clardy, Jr. and his wife, Kayla of Bridge City; Keith Kuritz of Diboll; Tiffany Cecil and husband, Jason of Livingston, Texas; David Fussell and wife, Jordan of Diboll; Draylon Fussell and wife, Katherine of Lufkin; Brittany Fussell of San Augustine, and Brianna Fussell of San Augustine; 12 Great-Grandchildren, Tyler and Frankie Clardy of San Augustine; Tristan, Logan and Cameron Cecil of Livingston; Layna and Larissa Jones of Diboll; Aspen Elizabeth Fussell of Diboll; David, Peyton, and Braydon Fussell of Waskom; and Brielle Smith of Lufkin; Sisters, Sharon Goss of Dayton; Karen Carlton of Dayton; Robin E. Beak of Dayton; Gina Edge of West Columbia and Rhonda Martinez of Houston; Brothers, Elton Beck of Galveston; Richard Beck of Galveston and Dwight Beck of Angleton, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Franklin D. Fussell; her parents, Lorraine and Otis Gaines; Sister, Shirley Beck and Brother, James Beck.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with Bro. Michael Dickerson and Bro. Elton Beck officiating. Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday evening, June 4, 2015, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas. 75972.

 

Pallbearers will include, David Fussell; Edmon Fussell, John Clardy, David Fussell, Draylon Fussell and Jason Cecil. Honorary Pallbearers will include W.D. Lewing, Johnny Ford, Brandon Bailey, and Mike Owens.
