Center Police Department Officers responded a shot fired call at L and L Storage located on Shelbyville Street Tuesday afternoon. 

 

Upon arrival it was discovered through witnesses and video that owner of the storage units, 59 year old Lonnie Lawrence had been assaulted by 32 year old Jonny Aguilar Ventura who is an illegal citizen.  

 

While Lawrence was being assaulted he was able to retrieve his fire arm and fire one shot at Ventura striking him once in the leg. Lawrence was able to keep Ventura at bay as he called the Police.  

 

Ventura was transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center and treated and released for his none life threating injurie. 

 

Detective Stephen Stroud stated that all the information and evidence points to a clear case of self-defense by Lawrence though the investigation continues. 

 

Ventura is known by local law enforcement to be violent and is facing charges of

assault and terroristic threat.
