Weather delays opening of new Nacogdoches waterpark, owner hopeful within 30 days

The owner of the new Nacogdoches water park says the scheduled opening of the facility has been delayed due to weather.

Splash Kingdom's Johnny Blevins is hoping within the month the park should be finished or very close to being finished.

A company spokesperson said in March officials expected to be open by June 1.

Blevins reports crews have worked well into the wee early morning hours and around storms to get the complex completed. This is the fifth water park for Splash Kingdom and will be known as Timber Falls.

The economic-development agreement Blevins entered into with the City of Nacogdoches in August required him to open the park by June 30. City officials understand the weather delays.

Timber Falls is planned to be open until September from 11 a.m. to 6 or 7 p.m.
