Funeral Notice: Virginia Lewis Jones

Virginia Lewis Jones, 90, of Center, went home to be with the Lord, May 31, 2015.

 

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Center with Bro. Carl Smith and Bro. Michael Hale officiating.  Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

 

She was born December 11, 1924 to Irene and H.W. “Harry” Lewis in Beaumont, Texas, where her father was with Gulf Oil. They later were transferred to Chester, Texas. After graduating from Chester High school, she met and married Jimmy E. Jones. In the early 50’s, they moved to Center, where they opened clothing stores and worked most of their married lives. She used her talents in buying and merchandizing for the ladies stores.  She found great joy in her home, her family and her church. She especially loved her friends in The Martha Class and looked forward to seeing them on Sunday mornings.

 

She is survived by her

Husband of 73 years: Jimmy E. Jones

Suzanne and husband, Dr. John Jucas, of Shreveport, Louisiana

Carolyn and husband, William Bill Lovette of Denver, Colorado

 

Daughter-in-law: Alice Joy of Alice, Texas

Ron Jones and wife, Annette, of Austin

Allyson Jones of New York, New York

Pallbearers will be Ron Jones, Don Lovette, Jackson Lovette, Buddy Hancock, David Chadwick and Bobby Watson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Motley, Grover Russell, Bob Warr, Gene Walker and Tyrone Garrett.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
